Tata Engineering and Locomotive
Co Ltd was established in 1945. The company collaborated with
Daimler Benz AG from 1954 to 1969 to produce medium commercial vehicles.
During that period, some vehicles were a Benz design and have Daimler Benz
Logo. Some trucks and buses in this age can still easily be seen in
Malaysia. Although the collaboration has ended for more than 30 years,
many characteristics from Daimler Benz can still be found on the current
models, like the axles, chassis and chassis nomenclature. Tata is now
ranked the 9th largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in the world.
