The Dutch
manufacturer based in Valkenswaard started to build bodies on bus chassis
of various makes under the name Carrosseriefabriek Bova bv in 1931. It was
not until 1970 that the company started to build integral buses. By its
change in nature, the name was also changed to Autobusfabriek Bova
bv. The first model was Benelux. Then Europa, Xpress and Calypso were
built in the late 1970's and early 1980's. In 1982, the most famous and
common model of the company, Futura, was introduced. This variants of this
longlife model ranged from 10m to 15m, Although the emission level of
power plant has been changed from non-Euro to Euro 3, there was very
little difference in the unique outlook of the buses over these years.
In 1999, the
manufacturer introduced a new model called Magiq. Bova was taken over by
VDL in 2003 and a new double deck coach model called synergy was
introduced with co-operation with another group member - Berkhof.
