VDL Bus GroepVDL Groep is based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. It was founded in 1953 and its major business is the manufacturing of metal and plastic products. It entered the bus industry when it tookover DAF bus International in 1993. Later, Berkhof Jonckheere Groep and Autobusfabrik BOVA were acquired by the group in 1998 and 2003 respectively, making VDL the only bus manufacturer in the Netherlands. The group currently comprises the following companies: VDL Bus International (DAF, bus chassis manufacturer in the past), VDL Berkhof Valkenswaard, VDL Berkhof Heerenveen, VDL Jonckheere, VDL Kusters (specialised in producing bodies for minibuses) and VDL Bova (specialised in producing integral coaches).
